About Us

Ohio Community Media, consisting of 14 daily newspapers, 56 non-daily newspapers, and a number of niche magazine and tabloid publications, as well as various online applications is well-positioned to continue as the number one provider of local, local, local to our communities.

With the State of Ohio serving as its home base, OCM has flourished over the year; its various media print resources have a growing combined weekly readership of more than two million readers and reaches more than 650,000 households in 38 counties, dominating the western half of the Buckeye State.

The evolution of OCM is far more than printed and online products. Many of the operations represent 100-plus years of reporting the local events of each respective community. The lineage of this media group resembles a strong family tree; for the years past and for the years to come, our associates have recorded local history and have become the only complete chronology of our community’s events. The family of products has witnessed and actually suffered through many wars, a number of depressions, and challenges turned into opportunities in numbers far too great to enumerate.

Each day we continue to add to our local history books. The events and the reporting of such events have actually shaped and nurtured the very communities of which we reside and deliver the news.

In communities from A (Amherst, OH) to X (Xenia, Ohio) OCM is proud of the rich heritage the chain represents in the media industry, but equally proud of its continued commitment to tracing the family paths and events that have blazed the trail developing the cultures and overall “way of life” in OUR communities.

It prides our associates when OUR readers speak of THEIR newspaper. It’s the stewardship; the feeling of ownership from our readers that allows our products and our employees to continue building lasting impressions that have become the benchmark and mission of our print and new media resources.

Over the years our readers have witnessed changes in the tools used in the media industry, but the spirit and commitment to local remains our priority. Technologies will continue to evolve, but our goal of delivering local news to the doorsteps of our neighbors representing the very foundation of our country will always remain.

The names of the people and the events covered, reads like a who’s who in the volumes of local historical pages. OCM and its family of media products that preceded this company serve as individual community franchises, each with its own developed characteristics mirroring the very cultures of the region that specific publication represents.

At its foundation level in Ohio, OCM products can be found covering communities as far north and south to the shores of Lake Erie and to the banks of the Ohio River and as far east and west to central Ohio and to the Indiana border of this vibrant Midwestern state.

We invite you to visit this gateway website on a daily basis where we will feature a sampling of “current” history coming from our communities via our reporters, capturing events in video, still shots, and text news reporting. And, while we can offer only a selection from each product, you will quickly find that all articles and photos will link back to that specific community and the Ohio Community Media “franchise” recording the local footprints, blazing the trail to our future.

Our heritage is local; our future is local; our commitment is local and our community heritage is rich. We our proud keepers of our local history; and equally proud to continue such traditions, covering history as it becomes news. For more than 100 years we have scribed local history books.

Stay with us a few minutes and enjoy articles in review, first released by our newspapers further displaying the endless footprints left in our local historical pathways:
